We had a fantastic week in Palm Springs at the Esri Partner Conference and Developer Summit! Several Esri announcements will have great benefit for our oil and gas pipeline customers, including rapid advancement of GeoAI and Large Language Models integration. The evolving AI Assistants in the Esri platform can greatly streamline complex queries and reporting for pipeline integrity management, as well as supporting new workflows for field data capture. The AI framework is now extensible to
support unique linear referencing/pipeline requirements, and Geonamic will incorporate this into our software development roadmap.
In addition, the ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR) platform continues to evolve based on community feedback, with some notable improvements in reporting and analytics. APR leverages the service-based approach and supports branch versioning, and now includes a reporting engine to assist with transforming LRS data to create reports, dashboards, and PowerBI integration. There are several new Experience Builder Widgets, including a replacement for the legacy event editing application. Additional Experience Builder Widgets are coming based on user feedback.
Another important LRS announcement is improvements for external event integration, which is particularly useful for operators that wish to store inspection data in a separate database from their PODS or UPDM asset data. This is used in the transportation space, and it particularly useful for external LRS data that does not need frequent updates, just occasional refresh and synchronization. Using a REST service, with route and measures reports can be generated to identify changes over any time period. This functionality is upcoming in a future release.
APR Product Roadmap Highlights Include:
- Near term – reporting and analytics, update measures from LRS enhancements, modernized external system integration patterns, additional ArcGIS Pro event editing enhancements
- Mid Term – Additional web LRS capabilities for editing and analysis, LRS reporting and analytics, LRS data loading enhancements, integration of Photolog into LRS tools
- Long Term – Change dates on LRS dates, enhanced referent support, APR-UN editing enhancements, feature extraction from Photolog
Geonamic has been very active in supporting client data model migrations to PODS 7 and UPDM, and in configuring and customizing APR for unique client requirements and workflows. All Geonamic PipelineOffice Studio technology supports APR and the latest PODS and UPDM releases, including our advanced integrity and risk tools. It’s time to register for the PODS Spring Forum and Esri GIS in Houston!
Join us in Berlin, Germany this May as we join up with other PODS members to be a part of the ‘PODS Polygon’ on the trade show floor and be a sponsor for the PODS International Mini Forum on May 6th!
We’d love for you to find us at the PODS booth, #B3, and join us for the forum at this terrific event.
Do you know where you will be in 2025?
We’d love to meet up, let us know if we can catch you at any upcoming event!
Risk Model Improvement Initiative, Continued Conversations
Geonamic and Pipeline-Risk, both leading technology providers in the oil and gas midstream market, have partnered to sponsor a working group of forward-thinking pipeline operators and risk experts. The goal of the working group is to combine the experience, expertise and data of each participant to explore the practicality of adopting advanced and versatile machine-learned risk models. The project will focus on the efficacy of the models, validation of risk results, risk factor sensitivity, as well as model transparency and interpretability. At the end of the project, pipeline integrity managers and risk engineers will have a clear understanding of machine learning methods and whether machine learning risk assessment is suitable for their Integrity Management and Risk Assessment program.
